There are herbal products to treat acne and they are always been around, and in recent times they already gained much wider acceptance. Some of them may seem quite outlandish but still merit attention. There are people who dismiss these herbal remedies as just something that a grandmother has cooked up, but quite often the facts behind them get ignored. Herbal remedies have been around for ages and have treated acne for centuries, though they never have been marketed as today’s so called scientific research based skin care products. Herbal products are generally for external application and they have been used over the years, though some of them may seem unusual. Just recently, scientific studies have also been conducted on herbal remedies and a number of them have been found to be effective.
This may sound a little bit odd to you, but a fresh lime juice added to a glass of boiled milk is an effective remedy. Use this mixture as a face wash and apply it directly to a cracked skin, blackheads, whiteheads, or the teen age horror called pimples. You may find that the mixture is repulsive but the freshly squeezed lime juice is full of Vitamin C which has benefits for the skin. You need to boil the milk so that it will be free from any bacteria, and its purity will therefore act as a cleansing agent for the skin. The lime also does its bit to add to the anti bacterial properties of the concoction. Mango Acne can also be treated with that delightful mango fruit. There are no doubts, mango was used as a reservoir of Vitamin C and will complement your diet if eaten, but right now we are concerned with its application as an herbal remedy for acne. Puree the mango, and apply to your face as what you would do to any other face pack. Pat the puree that you have just made on to the skin and let it remain for about 20 to 25 minutes. Then rinse it off gently with cold water and notice the difference that it can make to your skin if applied regularly. Raw Potatoes Acne lesions or pits caused by acne can be treated with raw potatoes. They say that the enzymes from the pulp of raw potato contains, along with the starch and Vitamin C, cures the skin damage caused by acne in a very short time. So grind your raw potato, shred it or grate it and use the pulp to apply on the parts of your skin that are affected. You will soon find a reduction in the number of pimples, and other afflictions that are part of acne. The effects are seen within a very short time and the easy availability of raw potato is a plus point. Almond Oil Almond oil is another treatment for acne and dry skin. You can mix it with other binders like oatmeal and make your own version of a face mask. This can smooth the skin if applied on the face and if you want, even the shoulders too. Just a few drops of almond oil are a simple and inexpensive way of introducing aromatherapy to your skin and can be proven beneficial. Use a very limited amount of this oil and you will find out that it can moisturize the skin as other skin care oil products can do.
